“Ecotourism involves visiting natural areas with the objectives of learning, studying or participating in activities that do not bring negative effects to the environment; whilst protecting and empowering the local community socially and economically.” (Cristina, 2004)
Ecotour Enterprise Cameroon is registered with the Government of Cameroon in January 2016 through the Ministry of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts in South West Region. Ecotour Enterprise Cameroon offers all safaris in the country.
The major difference is that we offer Eco tours in Cameroon in Cameroon through local ecotourism organizations and community based organisations, that directly benefits the local community around Cameroon’s National Parks as an incentive for conservation and where you can be part of both the conservation and the community.
Secondly the company is owned and run by Cameroonians who have extensive experience and knowledge in tourism and conservation which allows you to experience the natural and human wonders of the country, as you encounter the natural beauty, Hospitable people, cultural diversity, Peaceful and Bilingual nature of Cameroon.
Our philosophy is giving back to the community in places we visit to change lives, to protect and conserve our environment. While with us, we will take you to visit most of our projects with the communities and if you have time you can have a hands-on-experience through active participation.
By encouraging travelers to behave in an environmentally responsible way. Ecotour operators offer relevant information and advice on how travelers can minimize their impact on the ecosystem as well as how they can contribute to the protection of fragile ecosystems.
By offering travelers the opportunity to participate in conservation or preservation projects. An important element of this type of project is education. The goal is that through participation, eco travelers will return home with increased awareness and concern for environmental issues and therefore continue to behave in an environmentally conscious way.
By involving the local community in aspects of planning, decision-making and management of ecotourism. This encourages the empowerment of individuals.
By educating travellers through leaflets, interpretation and advice from Tour operators or guides about the culture, customs and etiquette of locals. This prevents conflict or offence between local and traveller interactions that may be caused through misunderstanding or ignorance.
By employing local people whenever possible and paying fair wages. This prevents exploitation and benefits the local economy by preventing leakages of the revenue acquired through tourism.
Many Ecotour operators are involved in working on initiatives and projects with the local community such as training and education programmes.
As an eco- traveller it is your responsibility to prevent or minimise any negative impacts on the environment, local community and economy of the destination you are visiting. Our aim is to provide guidelines that will help you to remember the principles of ecotourism throughout your trip.
